Today Is IPv6 Day. Whoopee! Will it Affect Your Website and Reservation System? Yes, another internet marvel to keep track of, the new internet protocol for internet networks, IPv6. It’s actually 12 years old and you should not have too much to worry about if your webmaster, ISP and network are up to date. Because the IPv4 protocol has run out of addresses, a new internet protocol, IPv6, is being implemented slowly but surely. Since this is about as confusing as the theory of parallel universes promulgated by physics professors, we suggest that you consult with your Internet Service Provider and Webmaster to determine if your site and service are ready for IPv6, not to mention, your online reservations service. The following has been adapted from the World IPv6 Day page, hosted by the Internet Society (ISOC). World IPv6 Day - "Sponsored by the Internet Society, World IPv6 Day provides major websites with a trial period to provide their content on both IPv4 and IPv6. World IPv6 day is designed to provide a test run for ISP’s, hardware makers, website hosts and operating systems so the bugs can be worked out before the new protocol become ubiquitous."
