Guide to Choosing Adventure Travel Trips

Choosing the Best Outfitted Adventure Based On Your Fitness Level
KNOXVILLE, Tennessee—One of the most important factors to consider when planning an adventure vacation is the fitness level of all travelers who are participating in the trip. Adventure vacations offer travelers the chance to take part in a variety of active pursuits, and there are trips available for people of all fitness levels.  America Outdoors’ consumer website www.adventurevacation.com provides easy to follow guidelines on how to plan a trip and gives travelers a range of outfitters that offer easy, moderate, and more active adventure vacations. America Outdoors Association recommends considering the following factors when planning an adventure vacation:

  • Consider your primary motivation for choosing an adventure vacation. Do you want to challenge yourself, to share an outdoor experience with family, or just to sit back and relax?
  • Consider the ages and fitness levels of all of the travelers in your group. Any physical limitations of any group members should be considered before signing up for a trip and those issues discussed with the outfitter prior to finalization of your plans.
  • Most outfitters have guides available to help instruct you or provide the guidance necessary throughout the trip. Although most trips through America Outdoors members cater to families and individuals with little or no experience, prior experience may be recommended on more adventurous trips
  • Get the references of previous customers who may be able to tell you what to expect during your vacation if you feel you need a more information.
  • Make sure that you inform the outfitter of any special conditions that may affect your trip. Outfitters are good at making reasonable accommodations for various conditions, but some trips may have essential eligibility requirements.
Members of America Outdoors Association (AOA), an international association of outfitters and guides, provide a wide range of adventure activities that include whitewater rafting, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding and horse packing, wilderness camping, hiking, fishing and hunting trips, bike tours, and dude ranches.  Professional outfitter members of America Outdoors make the experience easy for first time adventurers by helping travelers decide which trip is appropriate for solo, group, and family travelers.  For more information about how America Outdoors Association can help you plan an adventure vacation based on your fitness level, visit AdventureVacation.com or contact David Brown at 865-558-3595.
