Our Industry Is Stronger When We Stand Together: A Message From Our President
The value of America Outdoors cannot be overstated.
None of us are big enough to have our fingers on the pulse of everything happening in Congress, the Department of Labor, Interior, Transportation, the courts, workforce policy, or the countless regulatory and operational challenges impacting outfitting businesses every day. America Outdoors is our backstop. It is the organization working year-round to protect, strengthen, and advocate for our industry.
When we come together to support the people doing this work on our behalf, we are all stronger—and we are far better prepared when policies, administrations, or regulations shift.
As I think back on what America Outdoors has accomplished over the last several years, I am floored.
AO helped secure critical PPP improvements that benefited outfitting businesses across the country, including using operators’ top three months of payroll and supporting the second round of draws. AO successfully fought for a short-haul exemption that helped prevent burdensome oversight of 15-passenger vans. Twice, AO helped get executive orders rescinded that would have dramatically changed how outfitters operating on federal lands were classified regarding payroll and overtime requirements.
And that is only part of the story.
Today, America Outdoors continues leading on issues that directly impact our ability to operate and grow—from implementation of the EXPLORE Act to workforce challenges, permitting, public land access, risk management resources, and ensuring outfitters have a seat at the table in Washington, D.C.
The reality is this: even businesses that are not members still benefit from the victories America Outdoors secures for this industry.
Now imagine what we could accomplish if more outfitters and industry partners chose to support the association working every day on their behalf.
Membership is not just about receiving benefits. It is about protecting the future of outfitting and outdoor recreation. It is about ensuring our industry has a strong, united voice. It is about making sure there are people in the room fighting for the businesses, guides, and operations that make outdoor experiences possible across America.
To those of you who are already members: thank you. Your support matters more than you know. Your commitment strengthens this industry and helps make all of this work possible.
If you are not yet a member, I encourage you to join us.
The stronger our membership, the stronger our voice—and the stronger the future of this industry becomes.
Thank you for supporting America Outdoors and the future of outfitting.
