22 States have formed an Office of Outdoor Recreation (OREC), or in some cases a similar role, to advocate for the outdoor recreation industry. Each state operates in their own way, but many offer education, grants, and opportunities to collaborate.
Some of the states listed below have joined together to form the Confluence of States to collaborate on shared goals and strategies to improve outdoor recreation opportunities in their states. They have signed the Confluence Accords, which is a commitment to conservation & stewardship, education and training, economic development, and public health and wellness.
Take a moment to learn if your state has a director and remember, building meaningful connections and talking to these offices is the key to utilizing their resources. It is important to ensure that outfitters have a seat at the table.
