America Outdoors is proud to celebrate a major milestone for the outdoor recreation industry: the US Department of the Interior has officially launched the implementation of the EXPLORE Act, also known as Expanding Public Lands Outdoor Recreation Experiences, through a Secretarial Order signed by Secretary Doug Burgum - appropriately during Great Outdoors Month.
This action sets the framework for coordinated efforts across federal agencies to improve and expand outdoor recreation opportunities on America's public lands and waters. The legislation aims to modernize recreation management, enhance access for diverse groups, and support local economies related to outdoor recreation.
We're especially proud that Matt Knott of River Riders in WV was able to attend the signing ceremony on behalf of America Outdoors, joining Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) members and leaders across the industry.
The EXPLORE Act passed with unanimous, bipartisan support in 2024 and marks the most comprehensive outdoor recreation legislation in decades. AO will continue advancing implementation, sharing updates and offering ways to engage.
This is a big win for outfitters, rural economies, and the outdoor recreation industry - and we're excited to be a part of the continued momentum.
